She was born in Bremen, Germany on August 18, 1939, from a German father and an American mother. 19 years later, Marita Lorenz accompanied his father on a trip from Germany to New York with a stopover in Havana. During the escalation, more exactly on February 23, 1959, Fidel Castro enters in the ship. The two of them fall in love.

After Marita arrives in New York, Fidel convince her to return to Cuba. She travels back to Cuba and moves with Fidel in an apartment at the Havana Libre hotel. During that time, Mariza got pregnant. But later she stated that Fidel drugged her in order to abort the child. In fact, Mariza never wanted that child. Anyway, the child was born prematurely, but Fidel Castro didn’t recognize him.
After this scandal, Marita returned to the US in October 1959. It is believed that she was recruited by the CIA and was trained in the agency camp. Some sources even sustain that CIA promised Marita no less than $2 million dollars if she will murder Castro. Also, those documents that proved this intentions, reveals another interesting fact: she was also recruited by Cosa Nostra.
In order to eliminate Fidel Castro, CIA collaborated with Sam Giancana, Al Capone’s successor. In fact, many murdering attempts with the “Mafia stamp” occurred on the island, but none of them were successful.
In January 1960, after her own confessions, she went back to Cuba with poison pills. Her mission was to poison the milk that Fidel used to drink. According to her book, Lieber Fidel: Mein Leben, meine Liebe, mein Verrat (Dear Fidel: My life, my love, my betrayal), Marita threw the pills into the toilet.
Although it is said that she was recruited after she initially returned to USA, there are signs that she was an agent from the beginning. She was also involved in the plot that led to the assassination of J.F. Kennedy.
