Among the passionate, Meher Baba is known for many spiritual achievements, but has been remarked in the international press as the man who refused to speak.
A long Silence
His silence began at the age of 31 and according to his disciples he never spoke again since July 10, 1925, despite the fact that his initial plan was to keep silence for one year. Basically he remained silent for 44 years, more than half of his life. Could you do that?
“You have enough of words, I have had enough of words. It is not through words that I give what I have to give.” – Meher Baba

The interesting fact is that it was the first celebration of Silent Day and the only one while Meher Baba was alive. He died the following year in January. His followers now are celebrating July 10 by being silent for 24 hours, from midnight to midnight. The day is known as the Silence Day.
